INDONESIA TO FACE AUSTRALIA IN OPENING THOMAS AND UBER CUP TIES

KUALA LUMPUR (APRIL 22, 2010): Indonesia and Australia will have the honour of playing the opening matches of the PROTON-BWF Thomas & Uber Cup Finals which begin at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil on May 9.

Indonesia, the most successful country in the history of the Thomas Cup, will begin their campaign on Court 2 while their Uber Cup teammates get cracking against Australia on Court 1. Both matches are scheduled to start at 12noon.

Other matches scheduled for the high noon start are defending Thomas Cup champions China vs Peru on Court 3 and Japan-Germany in the Uber Cup.

Hosts Malaysia will kick-off their Thomas Cup Group B campaign against Nigeria later in the evening at 6pm. Other matches scheduled for the opening day are Denmark-Poland (Thomas Cup) and China-USA and Korea-South Africa (Uber Cup)

The Malaysian women will get their show on the road on Day 2 (May 10) when they take on USA at 6pm.

Malaysia's second Thomas Cup tie will be against Japan on May 11. The women will also conclude their group fixtures the same day with a tough encounter against China.

The preliminary round matches will end on May 11, after which a draw for the quarter-finals will be held.
